New to meditation? You are very welcome here.

Many people avoid meditation because they think they will not be “good at it.”

They worry their mind is too busy, their body is too uncomfortable, or they will not know what to do.

iRest Meditation is different.

Instead of trying to force the mind to be quiet, you are guided into a state of deep rest where thoughts, emotions and body sensations can be noticed without pressure or judgment.

You are not trying to achieve a perfect meditation.
You are learning how to rest with your experience in a kinder, more spacious way.

This class is perfect for you if:

  • you feel mentally exhausted
  • you find it hard to switch off
  • you carry stress or tension in your body
  • sitting meditation feels uncomfortable
  • your mind feels too busy to meditate
  • you want calm without pressure
  • you are curious about meditation but unsure where to begin
  • you want a gentle evening class in Wollongong
  • you are looking for deep rest, not another workout

No experience is needed.
No flexibility is required.
No pressure to perform.

What is iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation?

iRest Yoga Nidra is a structured, guided meditation practice adapted from the ancient tradition of Yoga Nidra for modern life.

In an iRest class, you are invited to lie down or sit comfortably while your teacher guides you through a deeply restful meditation.

The practice may include awareness of the body, breath, feelings, emotions, thoughts and a deeper sense of inner stillness.

Rather than trying to escape your experience, iRest gently supports you to meet what is here with greater ease, awareness and compassion.

Over time, this can help you feel more grounded, steady and connected to the quiet presence that is already within you.

Why iRest is different from other meditation classes

Many meditation styles ask you to sit upright, focus strongly, repeat a mantra, or try to keep your attention on one object.

That can be difficult for beginners.

iRest is often more accessible because it is:

Fully guided

Your teacher leads you step by step, so you are not left wondering what to do next.

Rest-based

You can lie down comfortably with blankets, bolsters and pillows. This makes it easier for the body to settle.

Beginner-friendly

There is no need to clear your mind or have a special spiritual experience.

Body-aware

The practice gently brings awareness into the body, breath and present-moment experience.

Non-forceful

You are not asked to push thoughts or feelings away. You learn to notice them without being controlled by them.

Grounded in non-dual wisdom

At its heart, iRest points toward the understanding that peace is not something outside you that you need to chase. Beneath the changing thoughts, emotions and stresses of life, there is a deeper steadiness already present.

What happens in class?

When you arrive, you will be welcomed into a calm studio space with soft lighting, mats, bolsters, pillows and blankets.

You can lie down on a mat or sit comfortably if that feels better for your body.

Your teacher will guide you through a structured iRest Yoga Nidra meditation. You may be invited to notice the body, breath, sensations, emotions, thoughts and the quiet awareness in which everything comes and goes.

There is nothing to get right.

Some people feel deeply relaxed.
Some drift in and out of awareness.
Some notice how tired they are.
Some simply enjoy the chance to be still.

All of this is welcome.

A welcoming sanctuary in the heart of Wollongong

Wellness Centre Wollongong is not a gym or performance space.

It is a calm, supportive wellness centre designed to help you feel safe, settled and welcome.

Our meditation classes are held in a peaceful studio environment with comfortable props, gentle guidance and a focus on deep rest.

For many first-time meditation students, simply entering a quiet space and being given permission to pause can be the first step toward feeling more grounded.

From reacting to responding

Modern life can keep us reacting — to stress, pressure, uncertainty, work, family, emotions and the constant busyness of the mind.

iRest Meditation offers another way.

Through guided rest and awareness, you begin to notice what is happening inside you before automatically reacting to it.

This is not about controlling life.
It is about changing how you meet life.

From a non-dual perspective, meditation is not about fixing a broken self. It is about recognising the quiet wholeness that has always been here, even beneath stress, tiredness and mental noise.
