Are you interested in understanding how what you eat affects your mood?
The gut has been referred to as the “2nd brain” since understanding its connection to the brain through the central nervous system, neurotransmitters and gut microbes. So it’s not surprising that emerging evidence has shown a link between depression and anxiety and diet (Jacka, 2017).
Naturopath (Nutritionist & Herbalist) Kate Perini will be offering an informative workshop on the role of diet and lifestyle on our moods and simple changes you can make to promote gut and brain health.
Some common and undiagnosed conditions and factors we will look at which affect our mood are:
- Leaky Gut Syndrome – a condition where the intestinal barrier is damaged and toxins enter the bloodstream. Our intestinal permeability and the integrity of it can be affected by antibiotics, stress and diet.
- Stress and burn-out. Long term stress has been associated with depression and irritable bowel syndrome.
- Pre-menstrual syndrome and pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder – hormonal conditions which affect women’s moods can be influenced by diet.
- Aging Well – diet and dementia risk.
When: Saturday 4th May 1 -2pm.
Where: Studio 2 the Wellness Centre Wollongong
Cost is $20 per person including notes and refreshments.
