BarreFIT
These classes were designed & facilitated by Elizabeth in Nov. 2014 as she saw a need for people wanting to ease into barre classes for various reasons. Firstly 40 minutes of conditioning to tone your body based on the Barre Attack program . Then 20 minutes of dance-based stretching to lengthen the muscles and release built-up tension. Includes Barre exercises & circuit training utilizing resistance bands, Pilates balls & hand weights. A great complimentary class to strengthen you for all your other activities as well as those just starting out on the Barre.
Barre Attack
A dynamic fusion of Pilates, Ballet and Fitness. It’s an all body workout using the classic Ballet Barre that attacks those dreaded problem areas — legs, butt, thighs and arms. Classes are multi-leveled and designed to challenge bodies of any gender, age, or fitness level. Video & more information here
Gentle Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is beginner friendly with a focus on posture and breathing techniques. Longer static holds help to build strength & stamina and gives time for alignment. This is a good place to learn basic yoga postures, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga.
Flow Yoga:
All of our yoga classes offer a range of levels within the class sequence so you can work at a pace you find appropriate.
Beginners can ease into the sequence with guidance, use of props and posture modifications. Experienced students will be met with options to develop and deepen their practice and understanding. These Vinyasa flow classes include some of the Ashtanga principles.
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of asanas (postures) aimed to encourage internal heat and purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. This combination results in improving circulation as well as developing a light and strong body with a calm mind. Friendly for both beginners and the experienced student. Come along to the new style classes to try this very traditional style of yoga.
Restorative Yoga
In restorative classes you will be focusing on body awareness, breathing with long slow gentle stretches. During these sessions, you will be encouraged to have your focus on the internal sensations of the body and breath whilst letting go of judgement, competition and any expectations. You are allowed to accept your body as is, without trying to force the stretches, just surrendering to whatever your body is feeling in the moment.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissue including the ligaments, bones and joints of the body that may not be stretched very much in the more active styles of yoga. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Muscles are intended to be relaxed in the asanas and also held for longer periods of time. Yin Yoga especially targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
