Beginners Barre Fitness 6 week Course
Contrary to what many believe, barre is not only for dancers. These classes are great for those wanting to start barre workouts and work up to the Barre attack and Barre Fitness classes.
A dynamic fusion of Pilates, Ballet and Fitness. It’s a fun, all body workout using the classic Ballet Barre that attacks those dreaded problem areas — legs, butt, thighs, tummy and arms.

Why do the Beginners Barre classes?

These original Barre Fitness classes were designed & facilitated by Elizabeth since Nov. 2014 at the Wellness Centre Wollongong. Elizabeth saw a need for people wanting to ease into barre classes for various reasons e.g. beginners, reduced fitness, strength, flexibility and those recovering from injury. Attendees being encouraged to take the classes at their own pace. No judgement, no competition.
Firstly 40 minutes of low impact conditioning to tone your body based on the Barre fitness program, then 20 minutes of dance-based stretching to lengthen the muscles and release built-up tension. Classes include Barre exercises & circuit training utilizing resistance bands, Pilates balls & hand weights. A great complimentary class to strengthen you for all your other activities as well as those just starting out on the Barre.
Our BarreFit classes have been running at least twice a week for many years with great attendance and the members love it! Mondays 9.30am and Fridays 8.15 am. More classes of BarreFit will be coming soon
Requirements for Barre Classes: Workout clothing, an exercise mat, water bottle. Resistance Bands are supplied for the 6-week course. Normally these can be hired for $2 or purchases for $12. These bands need to be at least 2.5m long (not normal size)
If this is your first class at the Wellness Centre we need a Pre-Exercise Forms filled out so please arrive at least 10 minutes prior. Otherwise, you can download Forms HERE
