MYSORE STYLE ASHTANGA CLASSES
Currently on hold.
Ashtanga Yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation and is suitable for all ages, body types and fitness levels. All that is needed is an open mind, enthusiasm to learn and a commitment to practicing regularly.
It is suggested that students have attended at least a few led Ashtanga classes (Wednesday 6 pm, Thursdays 5.45 pm), a Yoga Flow Beginners Course or previous practice in Vinyasa Yoga before attending a Mysore class.
Be prepared to start at the beginning. You will be taught to eventually memorize the Ashtanga sequence, so you learn step by step. Firstly you will be taught how to breathe correctly and practice the Surya Namaskara A & B sequence. Then, you’ll add postures every time you return.
Other students will be doing their own practice. A Mysore practice can last from 30 - 60 minutes to 2 hours depending on your practice.
No competition. Every single person’s ability and body is different. Some people are very flexible, but not strong. Others are very strong however struggle with their flexibility. You really do not know how long someone else has been practicing yoga for or their life circumstances. Everyone has their own difficulties and strengths, so you need only focus on your own practice.
The teacher will decide what is best for each student depending on what they observe. Trust that your teacher is doing the best teaching for each student and that there is a reason for everything.
Emotions are amazing so learn to embrace them. We suggest you do your best to present with your emotions and witness them without judgement as much as possible
