You don't need any yoga experience and you don't need to be flexible.  It is accessible for everyone*(see below) who wants to relax, stretch and calm the mind.

These classes use special props such as bolsters, blocks & blankets to make the yoga poses relaxing and passive, enabling you to stay in the pose for up to 5 minutes.  It sounds like a lot, but holding the poses passively for a longer period allows for a deeper stretch and a very calm body-mind.

No downward dogs, headstands, demanding or difficult postures in these sessions. In yin poses, students are encouraged to find a mild, safe & deep stretch. Great for guys as well as the girls!

How does it work?

Yin yoga targets the connective tissue, or fascia, surrounding the joint capsules and every cell of the body.  In these classes, we work particularly with the ligaments, bones and joints of the body  -  emphasising hips, hamstrings, shoulders and spine.  These tissues are very tough and can get hard and dry over time.  The good news is that with gentle but continual pressure they slowly become pliable and more fluid again enabling free, subtle joints.

Yin and Restorative Timetable

  • Wednesdays 9.30am (Restorative Yin)
  • Fridays at 5.45pm (Candlelight Yin, Unwind and restore your inner light by relaxing in a beautiful, spacious, comfortable & warm candlelit setting.)

Yin Yoga classes may not be appropriate during pregnancy, for those with hypermobility issues and certain joint problems. In these cases, Restorative Yoga or modified Yin classes may be more appropriate. Please call the Wellness Centre 42263777 before attending these classes if unsure.
